If you’d rather let specialist skincare experts take care of your skin, then in-salon LED Light Therapy is the way to go.

These days, the full range of LED Light Therapy benefits is well known, but if you want to understand a little more about what LED Light Therapy actually is, and why you should consider having this treatment, read on to find out more.

What is Light Therapy?

At Este, we use Dermalux LED Light Therapy. This is an all-natural and non-invasive treatment that anyone can enjoy. The light used in LED Light Therapy is non-thermal which means it isn't produced by heat, and is created using narrowband UV light. This type of light therapy is used to help treat a variety of skin conditions such as -

  • Acne
  • Dull skin
  • Ageing skin
  • Scarring
  • Rosacea
  • Eczema
  • Sun damage
  • Hair loss

There’s no denying, that it’s a great all-rounder that can really help give your skin some serious TLC.

How does LED Light Therapy work?

If you’ve seen the Dermalux LED Light Therapy machine that we use at Este, you may think it looks a little futuristic. It kind of does, but we like to think of it as a little sanctuary where you simply lie back and let the light work its magic. While you’re relaxing and enjoying your LED Light Therapy facial, your skin will be drenched in two wavelengths of light that are well known for their skin healing abilities.

As the light hits the skin, the skin then uses this light to create energy so that it can tackle specific skin complaints. For instance, if you’re having LED Light Therapy for acne your skin will use this light to kill off acne-causing bacteria. Once the bacteria has been killed off, your skin is then given the chance to heal, and in turn, is able to break the cycle of breakouts. For other skin conditions, the light helps to boost the skin’s ability to produce collagen and elastin, whilst at the same time aiding circulation and fast-tracking the repairing of tissue.

Yes, it really is as good as it sounds – and all you need to do is lie back and relax.

The Different Types of LED Light

The type of LED Light Therapy you receive will depend on your specific skin concern, as the different types of light each have their own skin-healing properties. Here’s what you need to know -

Red Light

If you suffer from Rosacea, then this is the type of light treatment you’ll have. It’s great at increasing your skin’s hydration, whilst simultaneously helping to cut redness and levels of inflammation. As well as that, it can also help shrink pore size, combat excess oil production, and even gives your skin’s circulation a helping hand too. Red light is also used in LED therapy for hair loss and has been proven to boost hair growth if regular treatments are used.

Blue Light

Blue light is UV free, and offers amazing antibacterial benefits. Blue LED Light Therapy for acne is one of the best treatments you can try if you suffer from persistent outbreaks. That’s because the light waves break the cycle of bacteria and give the skin a chance to heal. Oil production is reduced and blue LED light therapy for acne can even help stop possible future outbreaks too.

Near Infra-red Light

This is the type of light that your skin can absorb really deep down, so with that in mind, this is the light that’s best for more stubborn issues. It’s a great anti ageing LED light therapy as it can help target wrinkles, and aids the skin’s elasticity too. Aside from its anti-ageing benefits, it’s also good at dealing with cystic acne as this type of acne goes deeper into the skin’s dermis.

What LED Light Therapy Benefits can you Expect?

Is there a therapy that offers as many benefits as LED Light Therapy? We don’t think so! It can target multiple concerns all in one go and you just have to lie there.

When you come in for your initial consultation at Este, we’ll be able to advise you on the number of treatments you may need depending on the condition you’d like to target. There’s no downtime with LED Light Therapy so once you’ve enjoyed your relaxing session you can simply carry on with your day.
