Fallen out of love with a tattoo?

Tattoos are a personal choice, but maybe you’ve changed your mind about a tattoo on your body. Perhaps it’s an ex’s name you’d rather forget about, or maybe it’s a design you got when you were much younger and that just doesn’t fit in with your aesthetic anymore.

If you’ve got an unwanted tattoo and you’d like to find out about laser tattoo removal results, and what to expect from a laser tattoo removal course of treatments, we explain everything right here.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Once upon a time, tattoos were an absolutely permanent fixture once applied to your skin. However, thanks to advances in technology, it’s possible to remove unwanted tattoos in a matter of a few treatments.

At Este Medical, we use powerful lasers to shatter the pigment in your tattoo. It’s a non-invasive procedure and the best results are achieved over a laser tattoo removal course of sessions.

Once the laser has started the process of breaking up the dye, your body’s immune system then does the rest and the pigment is absorbed by your body. Our laser tattoo removal before and after results are impressive.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

No one wants to feel laser tattoo removal pain if they can help it. Thankfully, you’re in safe hands with our expert medical team at Este Medical. Before your procedure we apply a local anaesthetic cream to help minimise any discomfort. T

he lasers we use are powerful so you may feel an element of discomfort – perhaps the same as when you got the tattoo. Others describe it as feeling like an elastic band being snapped on their skin. So, is laser tattoo removal more painful than tattoo? - We do absolutely everything to ensure it’s not and you feel as little discomfort as possible.

How many laser sessions to remove tattoo?

This is a question we get asked often, and the answer isn’t an all-encompassing one. As we are all different, so too is the process of removing a tattoo. A number of factors need to be considered:

  • The pigments used in your tattoo
  • Your skin tone
  • How well your body responds to the treatments
  • The size of your tattoo

We are also often asked how many laser treatments to remove a small tattoo? Certainly a smaller tattoo should be much less time-consuming to treat as the surface area that the lasers have to target will be smaller.

However, there is still the matter of the pigment used and how your body reacts to the treatment to consider. The best way to find out your answers to these questions is to book in for a no obligation consultation.

Is laser tattoo removal safe?

At Este Medical we use the most advanced laser tattoo removal machine technology available and our team are highly skilled and trained in what they do.

You can rest assured that you will be in safe hands here, and we will do everything possible to ensure your procedure is safe from start to finish.

What’s more, we pride ourselves on our laser tattoo removal aftercare, so even once you’ve finished your laser tattoo removal course, we will still be available to discuss your treatment and answer any questions you may have.

Can you get a tattoo after laser removal?

Yes. Once you have recovered from your course of laser tattoo removal, it’s entirely possible to get a new tattoo in the same location.

Great news if you’re ready to express yourself all over again.

However, we recommend taking time to consider the design you’d like to have tattooed to make sure you’re 100% committed this time round.

Does laser tattoo removal leave scars?

This is a great question and one that deserves a little further probing.

At Este Medical we boast great results from our laser tattoo removals. It is wonderful to see clients get rid of unwanted tattoos that have often been lingering for years. Part of this process is aftercare. As the skin heals after the laser treatment it can sometimes blister and scar.

This is a completely natural part of the healing process and we talk you through all of this during your treatment. To ensure the best results possible it is vital not to pick and poke at healing skin as this can be what causes any scarring to remain.

So in answer to the question does laser tattoo removal cause scarring we work as hard as we can to ensure it doesn’t, but we cannot be with you 24 hours a day making sure you don’t pick any blisters or scabs. So for maximum results, leave your skin to heal naturally – don’t be a picker!

How often can you have laser tattoo removal?

As your skin needs to heal in between sessions, there needs to be a gap of a few weeks between treatments. For lighter complexions we advise a minimum period of time of six weeks, while darker skin needs a little longer to heal – at least eight weeks.

Does laser tattoo removal cause cancer?

You’ll be pleased to hear that no, laser tattoo removal does not cause cancer. Researchers at the Skin Cancer Foundation have found that laser tattoo removal poses zero known risks to developing cancer.

Why is laser tattoo removal not working?

This is a tricky question as it’s down to personal circumstances. Have you already had a course of treatments at a different clinic? Not impressed with the results? Maybe your clinician wasn’t as highly skilled as our team here at Este Medical. When done correctly, laser tattoo removal is highly effective.

Come in and talk to us and we’ll be able to look at the options available to you if you’re still looking to remove an unwanted tattoo from your body.
