Discover everything you need to know about dental veneers and why travelling to Turkey makes total sense in your quest for the perfect smile.

What are Veneers?

Veneers are a great option if you’re not happy with the way your teeth look and simple dentistry work won’t give you the results you’re after. Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain or composite that are custom-made to fit your teeth. Veneers are ideal if you have one or more of the following -

  1. Badly stained teeth
  1. A chipped or broken tooth or teeth
  1. A misshaped tooth
  1. Gappy front teeth that orthodontics can’t address

How Long do Veneers Last?

Veneers can last for a very long time if looked after properly. Composite veneers have a shorter lifespan and usually last around five to seven years, while the porcelain versions can be enjoyed for around 10 – 15 years, sometimes longer.

Should I Travel to Turkey for Veneers?

At Este, all of our cosmetic dentistry work is carried out at our sister clinic in Istanbul. Here, the very best dental surgeons work to deliver exceptional results when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. One of the main benefits of travelling to Turkey to have your veneers fitted is the price factor. Veneers in the UK will cost considerably more than travelling to Turkey to have the procedure.

The level of care, skill, and attention to detail in Turkey is extremely high, and our dental surgeons are all members of the National Dental Association. What’s more, there’s one extra factor that makes going to Turkey for your cosmetic dental work more appealing than staying in the UK, and that’s the fact you can enjoy a little holiday at the same time. Teeth and time-out make the perfect pair.

How are Veneers Fitted?

Teeth that are having veneers fitted need to be subtly shaved to allow the dental veneer to sit flush. Don’t worry, the area is numbed before this happens. Afterwards, impressions of your teeth are taken using dental putty. These impressions form the basis for your veneers. Once your veneers are made, and before fitting, you will be able to check you’re happy with the colour, shape, and size of your new veneers.

Once everything is in order, your veneers will be fitted to your existing teeth using dental cement. Final checks will be done with regards to size, your veneers will be polished, and any excess cement removed. And there you have it – your gorgeous new smile!

What do Teeth Look Like Under Veneers?

The appearance of teeth under veneers depends on the individual’s teeth. While some people’s teeth are noticeably discoloured, crooked, or chipped, other people may simply prefer to have veneers to give a more uniform finish to their teeth.

The only difference to your teeth is that a minimal amount of enamel will need to be removed in order for the veneer to fit neatly on top of your teeth.

Do Veneers Ruin Your Teeth?

Veneers don’t ruin your teeth, and they can actually help to protect them from further damage. We are also often asked, ‘can you whiten veneers’ and the answer is no. Porcelain and composite veneers can’t be whitened.

Do Veneers Hurt?

No. If you’re wondering, how do they do veneers  in a way that makes sure the process isn’t painful, then you’ll be pleased to hear that a numbing agent is used to keep any potential discomfort to an absolute minimum. This happens before your teeth are prepared for their moulds, so you shouldn’t feel any pain or irritation during the process.

Why are Veneers Cheaper in Turkey?

You want to know ‘how much is veneers in Turkey’ but you just can’t get a definitive answer. That’s because everyone’s circumstances are different. Whilst you might need a few veneers to correct stained or chipped teeth, another client may wish to address their entire top and bottom front teeth.

One thing’s for sure, however much you end up paying, you can be assured it will be considerably cheaper in Turkey than getting the same procedure carried out in the UK.

The reasons behind why veneers are cheaper in Turkey can be attributed to -

  1. Lower overheads for clinics (rent, energy bills etc)
  1. Lower cost of living so wages are lower
  1. A competitive market that keeps costs keenly priced
