Hyperpigmentation Treatment Birmingham

Skin pigmentation is caused by an excess production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour. Factors like sun exposure, medical conditions, hormonal changes, and genetics can trigger hyperpigmentation or melasma, leading to dark spots and patchy, uneven skin tone.

Acne & Pigmentation: Other Available Este Treatments

Uneven skin discoloration can be linked to acne and acne scarring. At Este Medical Group’s hyperpigmentation clinic Birmingham we have several effective treatments to enhance your complexion and improve your skin tone. Pigmentation related to acne is known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). This skin issue can result from breakouts of acne (e.g., on the face, back, or shoulders) that then form dark pigmentation spots. These spots may form in an area that has been damaged by pimples and/or skin inflammation or irritation (e.g., eczema, psoriasis). Additionally, PIH can happen to all skin tones, however darker skin tones often experience PIH at higher rates. If acne or skin inflammation are causing uneven skin tone, then one of our pigmentation treatment Birmingham procedures for skin discolouration may be the right choice for you to include in a skincare rejuvenation treatment plan. Message Este through our website to determine which of our depigmentation treatments are best suited to your skincare goals.

FAQ's

How many treatments will I need?
When you come in for your consultation we will be able to advise you as to the number of treatments we predict you may need for your skin pigmentation to fade or disappear. Everyone’s skin is different, and the number of sessions required can vary. While one person may see results after a one session, others may need multiple treatments. The type of treatment chosen will also influence how many sessions are needed. Typically, sessions are spaced between two to six weeks apart, depending on your individual treatment plan.
We have seen fantastic results for skin pigmentation treatment. Results depend on your own specific area of skin pigmentation, and can take a matter of months to be fully appreciated. The best results will be seen after a course of a few treatments, but you will notice a gradual fading of the pigmentation as your treatments progress. This may result in the area becoming completely unnoticeable, or significantly lighter and closer to your normal skin tone.
Treatment time depends on the size of the lesion being treated. In general, if we are treating just one patch then treatment time usually takes around 30 minutes, a few areas takes about 45 minutes, and a full face session lasts around an hour. We will be able to advise you as to how long we expect your own treatment to take when you come in for your consultation.
After your sessions for your skin pigmentation, you may experience a certain amount of redness and/or swelling to the treated area. This should fade over the course of the next 48 hours. You may also notice that the area of skin pigmentation actually appears darker five to seven days post treatment. It should then flake away. There is no down time involved with this treatment and you can get back to your normal everyday routines straightaway.
Treatment for skin pigmentation is a quick and safe procedure, and requires no anaesthetic or skin-numbing agents. If you do experience any discomfort it will be mild. There is no need to be anxious about this treatment, but if you are, please talk through your worries with our skilled staff at your consultation and we will be able to ease any fears.
