What is PRF hair loss?

The groundbreaking PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) treatment is the second generation to PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatment.

PRF is very similar to PRP, but the difference is that PRF does not use anticoagulants or chemicals, is much more effective with up to 10x more platelets and releases more growth hormones over time.

This means the thick, gel-like PRF substance continues to work to stimulate the hair follicles and hair growth long after the treatment is completed. PRP releases these hormones early on, whereas PRF steadily releases them, resulting in more effective and long-lasting results.

It is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure that not only stimulates hair growth, but also improves hair density and strength. It has become a promising solution for individuals of any gender experiencing hair thinning or loss.

How does PRF work for hair loss?

The PRF treatment begins the same as the PRP treatment. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, and once collected, undergoes a specialised centrifugation process. The centrifuge separates the platelets and growth factors from other blood components, resulting in a PRF solution that is incredibly rich in platelets and bioactive proteins essential for stimulating hair growth and reducing hair fallout.

What sets PRF apart from PRP is the absence of chemicals and anticoagulants.

Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF):
Known for stimulating cell growth, bFGF plays a significant role in tissue regeneration and wound healing. It supports the growth of new blood vessels and aids in the repair of damaged tissues.

This growth factor is important for cell division, promoting the growth of connective tissues, blood vessels, and cell migration to the treatment site, significantly contributing to tissue repair.
TGF-β1 is instrumental in regulating cell growth, production, and differentiation. It helps in the formation of new blood vessels and collagen, and is crucial for wound healing and tissue remodelling.

Vital for cell growth and development, IGF-1 stimulates the production and differentiation of various cell types. It aids in tissue repair and regeneration.
VEGF also stimulates the formation of new blood vessels, improving blood supply to the treated area and supporting tissue healing.

What are the Benefits of PRF Hair Treatment?

  • Accelerating wound healing:

The blend of growth factors in PRF helps to speed up the body’s healing process. It helps to promote faster tissue repair at the treatment site and minimises the risk of infection.

  • Tissue regeneration:

The platelets and fibrin in PRF stimulate cell production which aids in the regeneration of damaged tissues and supports the formation of new blood vessels.
