What is a Stem Cell Procedure?

A stem cell procedure for hair loss involves harvesting stem cells from a patient’s body, typically from fatty tissue. Once harvested, the stem cells are then activated in order to induce differentiation into specialised cell types that can replace damaged or missing hairs.

After being processed, the stem cells are injected back into the affected area of the scalp. As these stem cells become active, they can produce new follicles and help to restore the healthy growth of lost hairs in affected areas.

The advantage of using stem cell hair treatment over other options is that it does not require any type of risky surgery or ongoing medical care. Once the procedure is complete, it helps restore natural growth over time with minimal maintenance.

Causes of Hair Loss in Both Men & Women

Hair loss in both men and women can be caused by a variety of factors, ranging from genetics to lifestyle and environmental issues.

In men, the most common cause of hair loss is male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia. This type of hair loss is caused by hereditary factors which can be passed down from either side of the family.

Other causes for male hair loss may include illnesses such as diabetes, thyroid issues, treatments for cancer, and even some medications.

For women, the most common cause of hair loss is female pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. Very similar to that experienced by men, women’s hair loss may also be due to genetic predisposition, but typically occurs later in life i.e. in their 40s or 50s.

Other causes might include stress-related issues such as telogen effluvium (hair shedding) or anagen effluvium (alopecia), hormonal imbalances due to childbirth or certain medication use, nutrition deficiency such as anaemia, and more.

FAQ's

When will I start to see results?

After 6 months post-procedure, you can expect to see new hair growth. However, this can be different for everyone and we can discuss expected results during your consultation.

As your own stem cells are used in the procedure, the chances of your body having any adverse reactions to the treatment are very slim. You may experience some tenderness post-procedure, but this should subside within a few days.

Most likely not. Stem cell treatment is a highly efficient procedure, with most people only needing one treatment to achieve optimum results.

Here at Este, we pride ourselves on providing our patients with the highest quality care every step of the way. We will advise you on the correct aftercare to enhance your experience. This can be discussed in further during your consultation at your nearest UK clinic.
